A Space for Creativity
At the heart of Connect & Create is the belief that everyone has the potential to be creative, and that creativity is a powerful tool for personal growth and mental well-being. Each week we offer a variety of different crafts and provide all the materials you need — there’s no need to bring anything along. You’re very welcome to simply turn up and join in. If you prefer, you can also bring your own art or craft project, whether that’s painting, drawing, knitting, photography, or something else creative you enjoy.. The relaxed, communal setting allows people to work at their own pace, exchange ideas, and learn from each other.
Improving Well-being Through Art
Creativity has been proven to have numerous positive effects on mental health, reducing stress, anxiety, and feelings of isolation. Connect & Create offers a safe and supportive space where individuals can unwind, focus on their craft, and escape the pressures of daily life. By giving people the opportunity to express themselves through art, the collective promotes emotional well-being and helps participants gain a sense of accomplishment and empowerment.
Creative Expression with Purpose
Many of the creations made during Connect & Create sessions go beyond personal expression—participants often work on projects that contribute to the wider community. Whether it's crafting handmade items for charity, decorating spaces for local events, or creating collaborative artworks, the collective emphasises the idea that creativity can make a meaningful impact on the community.
Building Community and Connections
Connect & Create is more than just an arts group—it's a community. The sessions foster social interaction and build meaningful connections between participants, helping to combat loneliness and isolation. Whether people are working side-by-side on a shared project or simply chatting over a cup of coffee, the collective creates an environment where friendships are formed, and people support each other in both creative and personal endeavours.
Workshops and Skill Sharing
In addition to open creative sessions, we offer workshops led by local artists and experienced crafters, providing opportunities to learn new techniques and develop new skills. These workshops cover a range of artistic disciplines, allowing participants to experiment with different forms of creative expression, from painting and sculpture to photography and textiles.
A Safe and Inclusive Environment
The sessions are open to everyone, regardless of experience or background. It embraces diversity, and all participants are welcomed into a non-judgmental, friendly atmosphere where they can feel comfortable sharing their creativity. For those who may be hesitant to try something new, the collective offers a gentle introduction to the world of art and craft, with the freedom to explore at your own pace.
