We offer numerous volunteer opportunities for people of all skills, interests, and availability. Whether you want to engage directly with the community, assist behind the scenes, or contribute to ongoing projects, there’s a place for you to help us make a meaningful difference.

Whether you have a few hours a week or a couple of days a month, we’d love to welcome you to the team.

Community Life Hub Volunteer

  • Help us create a warm, welcoming environment at our Community Life Hubs, which serve as drop-in centers for individuals and families in need.

    • Greet visitors and provide a friendly atmosphere.

    • Serve refreshments like tea, coffee, toast, and snacks.

    • Offer a listening ear to people who may feel isolated or overwhelmed.

    • Assist visitors in accessing support services by connecting them with trained staff members.

  • You’ll be on the front line of compassionate care, ensuring that each person who visits our hub feels valued, respected, and supported.

Food Bank Volunteer

  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of our food distribution service, helping to ensure that food parcels are available and distributed to individuals and families in need.

    • Sort and organise donated food and essential supplies.

    • Prepare and pack food parcels for distribution.

    • Help manage stock levels, ensuring the food bank is well-supplied.

    • Assist with handing out parcels to recipients in a respectful, dignified manner.

  • By volunteering at the food bank, you help combat food insecurity, ensuring that families in Llanelli have access to nutritious meals and essential supplies.

Community Meals Volunteer

  • Join our team in organising and serving Community Meals, which are open to all and help foster connection within the community.

    • Help prepare healthy, balanced meals for community meal events.

    • Serve meals to participants in a welcoming, inclusive environment.

    • Engage with attendees, ensuring they feel comfortable and included.

    • Assist with clean-up and logistics after the event.

  • Community meals provide nourishment not just for the body but also for the soul, creating a space where people can connect, share stories, and build relationships.

Skills Development Workshop Assistant

  • Support the delivery of our Learning & Development Workshops, helping individuals develop practical skills such as cooking, budgeting, or other life skills.

    • Assist with the setup and coordination of workshops.

    • Help participants as they learn new skills, providing guidance and encouragement.

    • Share your own knowledge and experience, particularly in areas like cooking, nutrition, or financial management.

  • You’ll be helping people gain skills that can improve their long-term wellbeing, empowering them to take control of their lives and break the cycle of poverty.

Fundraising Volunteer

  • Help us raise vital funds to support Myrtle House’s ongoing work through events, campaigns, and community engagement.

    • Organise or assist with fundraising events like charity walks, bake sales, or community fairs.

    • Connect with local businesses or organisations to secure sponsorships or donations.

    • Help promote our fundraising efforts through social media, community networks, or local media.

    • Support participants in their own fundraising efforts by providing guidance and resources.

  • As a fundraising volunteer, you’ll help ensure the continued growth and sustainability of the project, enabling us to provide ongoing services to the community.

Administrative Support Volunteer

  • Assist with the administrative tasks that keep all the projects at Myrtle House running smoothly.

    • Help with data entry, record-keeping, and maintaining volunteer databases.

    • Assist in organising schedules, coordinating events, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the project.

    • Support our communications efforts by helping to prepare newsletters, manage social media accounts, or send out updates to donors and supporters.

  • By helping with administrative tasks, you enable our frontline services to focus more on helping people in need while ensuring that the projects run efficiently and effectively.

Delivery and Logistics Volunteer

  • Assist with the delivery of food parcels and essential supplies to those who are unable to visit our hubs or food banks.

    • Transport food and essentials from our storage facilities to homes of individuals and families in need.

    • Help with the collection of food donations from businesses, schools, or collection points.

    • Assist with logistical support for events, ensuring materials and supplies are where they need to be.

  • You’ll be providing critical support to vulnerable individuals, ensuring that everyone in the community can access help, even if they can’t physically get to us.

Peer Mentor

  • As a Peer Mentor, you can share your own experiences of overcoming challenges, offering guidance and support to others who may be going through similar situations.

    • Provide one-on-one mentoring to individuals, offering advice, encouragement, and practical support.

    • Share your story to inspire hope and demonstrate that positive change is possible.

    • Work alongside support staff to help individuals on their journey to self-sufficiency.

  • As a peer mentor, you’ll provide a unique form of support—offering empathy and understanding from someone who has “been there” and come through the other side.

Growing Space Garden Volunteer

  • The Growing Space Garden Volunteer supports the development and care of the the gardens at Myrtle House. Volunteers help grow food for the community kitchen while learning about sustainability, wellbeing, and food growing.

    • Support planting, watering, and harvesting.

    • Help maintain garden beds and pathways.

    • Assist with composting and garden organisation.

    • Follow health & safety guidance for outdoor work.

    • Gardening and food-growing skills.

    • Time outdoors supporting wellbeing.

    • Contribution to sustainable community food.
