Community Table
Good food. Great coffee. Shared purpose.
Based within Myrtle House, the Community Table is our friendly social enterprise café — a welcoming, space where people can relax, connect, and enjoy good food and drink in a supportive community setting.
Every cup of coffee, homemade bake, and freshly prepared meal helps sustain Myrtle House’s wider community work — strengthening local support, resilience, and opportunity. It’s food with purpose, served with care.
The café offers affordable, quality drinks and meals and is designed to be accessible and inclusive — somewhere people can meet, pause, and feel part of community life. Alongside this, our pay-it-forward option allows customers to contribute toward a drink or meal for someone else, supporting dignity and kindness through simple shared generosity.
More than a café, the Community Table is part of our whole community approach — creating connection, participation, and practical support through everyday hospitality.

The Menu
The café offers a range of affordable, wholesome meals and drinks, designed to be nutritious, satisfying, and accessible in a relaxed community setting. Our aim is to make good food available to as many people as possible, without stigma or barriers.
Alongside our low-cost menu, community meal options are available for those who need them, offered with dignity and care so that everyone can eat well and feel welcome.
The Community Table operates with a strong spirit of shared hospitality — creating a space where healthy, freshly prepared food is accessible, inclusive, and rooted in community.
Life Skills and Personal Development
The Community Table is more than a place to eat — it is also a space for learning, participation, and personal development. Through workshops and practical activities, we create accessible opportunities for people to build confidence, skills, and everyday resilience.
These include:
Cookery Workshops
Delivered through our own team and with local partners, our cookery sessions help participants develop practical, affordable cooking skills and confidence in preparing nutritious meals. The focus is on simple, realistic approaches to healthy eating that work in everyday life.
Money Matters and Budgeting Workshops
In partnership with trusted money support organisations and through our own trained team, we host practical workshops covering budgeting, managing financial pressure, and building financial resilience. These sessions connect closely with our wider Money Support Project and provide supportive, accessible learning spaces.
Volunteering Opportunities
The Community Table offers meaningful volunteering roles that help people build confidence, develop workplace and hospitality skills, and gain practical experience. Volunteering also strengthens community connection and creates pathways into further training or employment. Participants contribute to the life of the café while growing their own skills and sense of purpose.
A Hub for Community Support
As part of the wider Community Life Hub, the Community Table café is connected to a broader network of local support and wellbeing services. It offers a trusted, welcoming setting where conversation happens naturally and where people can find out about additional help if needed.
Our café team and volunteers are available to listen and, where appropriate, signpost people to wider support — including food support, essential items, money guidance, wellbeing services, and referrals to trusted partner organisations. By bringing hospitality and support into the same shared space, the café helps make access to help more approachable and less intimidating.
The café plays an important place-based role — creating a gentle bridge between everyday community life and wider support pathways.
Strengthening Community and Reducing Isolation
The Community Table is committed to strengthening community wellbeing and reducing isolation by creating an open, welcoming place where people can gather, eat, and connect. Good food and shared space can be powerful tools for connection and resilience.
Through our pay-it-forward option, customers can choose to contribute toward a drink or meal for someone else. This simple act of shared generosity supports dignity, inclusion, and community care — ensuring the space remains welcoming and accessible to all.
A Space for Everyone
Whether you’re coming for a meal, a conversation, a workshop, or a quiet place to sit and work, the Community Table is designed to be open and inclusive. It is a shared community space where people from different backgrounds and circumstances can feel welcome, build connections, and take part in community life.
More than a café, it is part of our whole-community approach — bringing together hospitality, participation, learning, and support in one accessible local setting.
